The U.S. attorney’s office is taking civil action against a Henderson pharmacist accused of violating the Controlled Substance Act by illegally selling and manufacturing painkillers
Scot Silber and his Henderson pharmacy, Green Valley Drugs, are named in the federal court complaint filed in September. According to the complaint, the pharmacy sold oxycodone and hydrocodone under suspicious circumstances and manufactured the drug compound fentanyl for “general use rather than to fill patient-specific prescriptions.” Green Valley Drugs was only authorized to sell fentanyl and not to manufacture it, the complaint said.
The U.S. attorney’s office accused Green Valley Drugs of selling over 47,000 units of oxycodone and 92,000 units of hydrocodone to a doctor under what is described as suspicious circumstances.
The complaint alleges that Silber knew that the subscriptions were suspicious because they were faxed to the pharmacy and several patients’ prescriptions, which were for large doses of the painkillers, were submitted simultaneously.
The complaint lists two claims for relief. Violations of the Controlled Substance Act are punishable by civil penalties of up to $25,000 each.
