Survey of Pharmacy Law Available from NABP
Serving as a convenient reference source for individuals seeking an overview of the laws and regulations that govern pharmacy practice in 53 jurisdictions, the updated 2013Survey of Pharmacy Lawis now available. TheSurvey, produced in a CD format, consists of four sections including a state-by-state overview of organizational law, licensing law, drug law, and census data. Newly added this year, a question in Section 18, Drug Control Regulations, asks what quantity limits are imposed for controlled substances. In addition, a new question was added to Section 19, Drug Product Selection Laws, and asks if the state has any interchangeability requirements for biosimilars/biologics.
Updates for the 2013Surveywere graciously provided by the state boards of pharmacy. In addition to the boards’ support, NABP requested data from relevant health care associations for theSurvey’s prescribing authority and dispensing authority laws in Sections 24 and 25, and laws pertaining to the possession of non-controlled legend drugs and possession of controlled substances in Sections 26 and 27. Organizations that provided this data include the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and the American Optometric Association.
NABP provides theSurvey of Pharmacy Lawto schools and colleges of pharmacy for distribution free of charge to their final-year pharmacy students. This is made possible through the generous grant of Purdue Pharma L.P.
