Louisiana Board of Pharmacy Legislative Proposals Effective August 1, 2018

2018-K ~ Amends the PMP Law to grant access to state epidemiologists with Dept. of Health.
               02-07-2018 - Committee voted to recommend the approval of Draft #3 to the Board.
               02-21-2018 - Draft #3 approved for filing by the Board.
               02-26-2018 - Incorporated in SB 109; prefiled for 2018 Regular Session.
               08-01-2018 - Effective date of Act 232 (SB 109).


2018-J ~ Amends the pharmacist licensure requirements in the Pharmacy Practice Act.
               02-07-2018 - Committee voted to recommend the approval of Draft #1 to the Board.
               02-21-2018 - Draft #1 approved for filing by the Board.
               02-27-2018 - Incorporated in SB 131; prefiled for 2018 Regular Session.
               08-01-2018 - Effective date of Act 31 (SB 131).


2018-H ~ Amends the statutory definition of "drugs of concern" in the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) to facilitate the reporting of prescriptions for naloxone.
               02-07-2018 - Committee reviewed Draft #1 and requested a minor amendment, then voted to recommend the approval of Draft #2 to the Board.
               02-21-2018 - Draft #2 approved for filing by the Board.
               02-26-2018 - Incorporated in SB 110; prefiled for 2018 Regular Session.
               08-01-2018 - Effective date of Act 146 (SB 110).

2018-G ~ Amends the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) Law to change the reporting frequency for dispensers of controlled substances and drugs of concern.
               02-07-2018 - Committee voted to defer action on Draft #1 until a later date.


2018-F ~ Amends the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) Law to authorize designated representatives of the Medicaid program to access audit trail information for providers caring for Medicaid recipients.
               02-07-2018 - Committee voted to recommend the approval of Draft #3 to the Board.
               02-21-2018 - Board declined to approve Draft #3 for filing by the Board.               


2018-E ~ Amends the Controlled Substances Law to permit the partial filling of prescriptions for all medications listed in Schedule II, consistent with federal legislation adopted in 2016.
               02-07-2018 - Committee voted to recommend the approval of Draft #1 to the Board.
               02-21-2018 - Draft #1 approved for filing by the Board.
               02-27-2018 - Incorporated in SB 134; prefiled for 2018 Regular Session.
               08-01-2018 - Effective date of Act 32 (SB 134).


2018-D ~ Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act to allow the Board to waive the license renewal fee for spouses of pharmacists or technicians serving in active duty military.

2018-C ~ Amends the statutory definition of "approved college of pharmacy" in the Pharmacy Practice Act to remove a specifically titled reference book of foreign pharmacy schools.

               02-21-2018 - Draft #1 approved for filing by the Board.

2018-B ~ Amends the Controlled Substances Law to define 'third-party logistics provider', identify such an entity as one of the entities requiring a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license to transact business with controlled substances, and to set the fee for CDS licenss issued to such entities.
               09-28-2017 - Committee voted to recommend the approval of Draft #1 to the Board.
               11-15-2017 - Draft #1 approved for filing by the Board.
               01-31-2018 - Incorporated in HB 45; prefiled for 2018 Regular Session.
               08-01-2018 - Effective date of Act 186 (HB 45).


2018-A ~ Amends the Controlled Substances Law to add additional substances to Schedule I and removes a substance from Schedule II, consistent with DEA scheduling actions since the last state legislative session.
               02-07-2018 - Committee voted to recommend the approval of Draft #1 to the Board.
