Drugs Compounded in a Pharmacy Must Adhere to US Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) Chapters <795> and <797>

January 1, 2015, OAC Rule 4729-9-21 requires drugs compounded in a pharmacy to adhere to USP Chapters <795> for nonsterile compounded drugs and <797> for sterile compounded drugs. Additionally, all compounded prescriptions must also adhere to Section 503A of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act
