This module is designed to aid the practitioner in advanced prescription writing skills for compounded medications. Many areas of compounding will be covered, including but not limited to: sports medicine, pain control, wound healing, decreasing scar tissue, weight loss, summer and winter formulations, and Anti-Aging skin care and more.

Daniel Banov, RPh, MS

Daniel Banov, RPh, MS, Director of PCCA's Research & Development team, earned his pharmacy degree from the College of Pharmaceutical Science of the University of Mogi das Cruzes in Brazil, and earned his Master in Science from the College of Pharmaceutical Science of the University of São Paulo, Brazil. In addition, Daniel has completed Specialization Courses in Cosmetic Formulation and Specialization in Hair Study by the University of São Paulo, Avon Technology. Before joining the PCCA team, Daniel was the director of Fórmula Médica Compounding Pharmacy in São Paulo, and was a university teacher and a cosmetic developer and consultant for physicians, spas and aestheticians. He also is the founder of the Anti-aging Society in Brazil. Daniel has published articles on cosmetics, including one relating to the effects of ginkgo biloba in anti-aging, and wrote a chapter about cosmetic formulations and dosage forms in the book, Veterinarian and Pharmaceutical Formulary. Daniel is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS) in England and a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) in the United States.




Matthew Buderer, RPh, FIACP
Matthew J. Buderer is a compounding pharmacist and Fellow of the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists.  He was the 28th recipient of the PCCA Compounding Pharmacist of the Year Award in 2013.  Matt is a third-generation pharmacist in a family practice that started in 1878.  To date, he is co-inventor on 6 different drug patents.





James LaValle, RPh, CCN

Jim LaValle, R.Ph., C.C.N., N.D., has 18+ years of clinical practice experience in the field of natural therapeutics and functional medicine, is author of 14 books, the latest being "Cracking The Metabolic Code" and is an adjunct professor in the College of Pharmacy, University of Cincinnati.






Bryan Prescott, PharmD

Bryan Prescott, PharmD, joined the PCCA Pharmacy Consulting team in April 2012. He spent the past 10 years working for PCCA Member Pharmcare in Pearland, Texas, where he was the department manager for the long-term care (LTC) pharmacy. The LTC services focused on pain management, anti-nausea, wound care, and other palliative measures.  Bryan obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Houston in 2001.  He is a lifetime member of Phi Delta Chi and is currently involved in the PDC Texas Alumni Chapter and the University of Houston Alumni Association.



Pamela W. Smith, MD, MPH, MS

Pamela Wartian Smith, M.D., MPH, spent her first twenty years of practice as an emergency room physician with the Detroit Medical Center. She is a diplomat of the Board of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Physicians and is an internationally known speaker and author on the subject of Metabolic, Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine. She has been featured on CNN, PBS, and other television channels, has been interviewed in numerous consumer magazines, and has hosted her own radio show. She is currently the Director of the Center for Healthy Living and Longevity and the founder and Director of The Fellowship in Metabolic, Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine. Dr. Smith is also the director of the Master's Program in Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine at the University of South Florida School of Medicine. She is the author of these best-selling books, "HRT: The Answers," "Vitamins Hype or Hope," "Demystifying Weight Loss," "What You Must Know About Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs & More," and "What You Must Know about Women's Hormones." Her newest book, "Why You Can't Lose Weight," was released in May of 2011.



Sahar Swidan, PharmD, BCPS

Sahar Z. Swidan, Pharm.D., BCPS obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan and then she completed a three year research fellowship in Bio-Pharmaceutics at the University of Michigan.  She previously was the Director of Pharmacy at Chelsea Community Hospital and the clinical pharmacist for the inpatient head and chronic pain service.  Currently she is President & CEO of Pharmacy Solutions in Ann Arbor, MI which is a unique, personal and educational specialty pharmacy and Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Michigan, College of Pharmacy.  Dr. Swidan is board certified and advanced fellow in anti-aging and regenerative medicine.
