Pharmacist in Charge- Compounding Pharmacy (long island)

We are seeking a pharmacist in charge for a compounding pharmacy on Long Island. We need someone with the ability to ramp up operations from construction forward, including all necessary regulatory applications, clean room set up, software implementation etc. This will be a sterile and non-sterile operation. Knowledge of all 797 regulations is crucial.

Duties:

* Lead the ramp up of all operations, from lab to administrative

*Knowledge of PCAB accreditation is a huge plus

* Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting prescription; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.​

* Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.​

* Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.​

* Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.​

* Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.​

* Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.​

* Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.​

* Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.​

* Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.​

So, even WITH a new Federal compounding law about to pass (and state laws being written and likely to pass) this pharmacy is GOING INTO THE COMPOUNDING PHARMACY BUSINESS (INCLUDING STERILE/INJECTABLE DRUGS)!

I think the "doom and gloom" hogwash that IACP's executive director David Miller was saying on Capitol Hill was just that. Regulation will not limit patients' choices of pharmacy or otherwise restrict access to compounding medicines. "Compounding Pharmacy" is just too lucrative to not do. There will be plenty of sterile/injectable pharmacies out there, even if Congress didn't wuss out and water down the Compounding bill.
