Legislative Proposals

2017-E ~ Amends the Insurance Law to define 'specialty drugs' and prohibit any entity from establishing alternative definitions for this term or adding any other requirements that will limit patient access to prescription drugs.
               01-12-2017 - Committee voted to recommend the approval of Draft #1 to the Board.
               01-25-2017 - Board scheduled to consider Draft #1.


2017-D ~ Amends the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) Law to establish audit trail information and restrict its disclosure, adds additional persons authorized to access PMP information, and updates the immunity provisions for the board and advisory council.
               01-12-2017 - Committee considered Draft #2, requested one amendment, then voted to recommend the approval of Draft #3 to the Board.
               01-25-2017 - Board scheduled to consider Draft #3.


2017-C ~ Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act and the Insurance Law to transfer the licensing and regulation of pharmacy benefit managers from the Dept. of Insurance to the Board of Pharmacy.
               01-12-2017 - Committee considered Draft #1, requested some amendments, and then deferred further consideration until its next meeting.


2017-B ~ Amends the Controlled Substances Law to add third party logistics (3PL) companies as an entity required to obtain a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license in order to handle controlled substances in Louisiana, and sets the annual license fee.
               01-12-2017 - Committee voted to recommend the approval of Draft #1 to the Board.
               01-25-2017 - Board scheduled to consider Draft #1


2017-A ~ Amends the Controlled Substances Law to add U-47700, furanylfentanyl, acrylfentanyl, and etizolam to Schedule I, thiafentanil to Schedule II, and brivaracetam to Schedule V.
               01-12-2017 - Committee voted to recommend the approval of Draft #2 to the Board.
               01-25-2017 - Board scheduled to consider Draft #2.
