TN Attorney General v. HRC Medical Compounded bio-identical hormones and numerous adverse reactions

"We are pleased with the court's rulings," Attorney General Bob Cooper said. "We urge consumers to consult with their primary healthcare providers first if they are taking, have taken, or are considering hormone treatment therapies of this kind."

The State has filed numerous affidavits from consumers who purchased bio-identical hormone replacement therapy from HRC Medical and were not advised of possible risks and side effects, which the State asserts include endometrial cancer, breast cancer, blood clots, strokes, heart attacks, high blood pressure, possible long-term or permanent disfigurement, head hair loss, permanent hair growth on one's face, chest, and buttocks, severe acne, causing a woman's voice to temporarily or permanently deepen, menstrual problems in menopausal women and psychological changes such as increased anger or aggressive behavior, and other adverse reactions.

HRC Medical had "registered nurses" (not doctors) do the implantation of compounded hormone pellets. Nurses are not allowed to do implantation of pellets (this is a surgical procedure). In addition, they overdosed so many patients with testosterone, especially female patients, that they caused side effects of deepening voice, male pattern hair growth, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, etc.

So, the back story to this, isn't just that the company hurt patients and that the owners raided the corporate funds when they were faced with a civil suit. No, the bigger issue is that there are disreputable physicians (Don and Dan Hale), who will exploit patients for financial gain, hurting them physically in the process. What is more important is that the State Departments of Health are very slow to catch on and discipline these doctors.
