USP Creates New Resource Page for Compounding Standards

posted: 11/21/2012
As part of its commitment to providing public standards for the quality, consistency, purity, identity and strength of all medicines, United States Pharmacopeia (USP) has developed standards for compounding. In an effort to facilitate the delivery of good quality medications, USP collected all information about compounding and the role of USP standards for practitioners, patients, associations and regulatory agencies on a new resource page on the USP Web site. This includes free access to USP General Chapter <797>, Pharmaceutical Compounding - Sterile Preparations. Members are encouraged to utilize these resources and adhere to widely-acknowledged, scientifically-sound procedures and practices that have been developed by USP. The resource page is located at www.USP.org/usp-healthcare-professionals/compounding.
