House Passes Cures Bill With Mandatory NIH/FDA Funding, Policy Rider Language Intact

The House passed the 21st Century Cures Act 344-77, in the process shooting down amendments that would have made the bill's funding hikes for FDA and the National Institutes of Health discretionary and would have stripped language that subjects the funding to appropriations policy riders. 

On Tuesday afternoon this week, the Senate Ag/FDA appropriations subcommittee marked up its FY 16 bill. The top-line is a $40 million increase for FDA, about $10 million more than the House mark.
