DermaTran Health Solutions adding 116 jobs here as it relocates California headquarters

DermaTran Health Solutions is moving its corporate headquarters from Redding, Calif., to Rome, WRGA’s Andrew Carter reports from the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority meeting this morning at the Greater Rome Chamber. The company will make a $7 million investment and create 116 new jobs here.
According to the company’s website, “DermaTran Health Solutions is a group of compounding pharmacies that specialize in the compounding of topical pain creams based on a prescription from your physician. We are passionate about quality, processes, and working with you and your physician to maximize the benefit from your prescribed treatment. We have an experienced staff with more than 30 years experience supporting doctors and patients.”
The company already is in place at the former State Mutual Insurance Co. office off Redmond (see above photo). WRGA’s Carter reports part of the deal includes DermaTran buying the massive building that anchors Technology Parkway and Redmond. Doc Kibler, the current chair of the Greater Rome Chamber and the development authority, had to step away from the announcement as he’s employed by Sate Mutual. Pete McDonald, interim president of Georgia Northwestern Technical College, chaired the DermaTran part of the meeting.
The  media release:
Sam Moss with DermaTran Health Solutions announced Tuesday plans for a $7 million investment and the creation of 116 new jobs in Rome and Floyd County. “The strong roots of the medical community played a great part in our decision to locate here,” said Mr. Moss. “We have been able to find knowledgeable employees that have made our business ramp up a success .”
“On behalf of the City of Rome, we welcome DermaTran Health Solutions,” said Rome Mayor Evie McNiece. “It is great news that these employees will directly benefit from this positive use of a former corporate headquarters facility.”
DermaTran Health Solutions is a compounding pharmacy that specializes in the compounding of topical pain creams based on a physician’s prescription. The health solutions provider uses topical compounded creams to serve patients with serious intractable pain, at the request of the physician, while providing a safe alternative to pain management by way of oral medications.
“This announcement is great news for Rome and Floyd County,” said Floyd County Commission Chairman Irwin Bagwell. “We are excited about this innovative product locating their corporate headquarters here, and we look forward to DermaTran’s growth and prosperity in our community.”
Locating their corporate headquarters in the former State Mutual Insurance building, DermaTran Health Solutions seeks to work with patients who have little success using traditional pain therapies, or who experience allergic or addictive reactions to prescribed oral medications.
“This project truly shows the benefits of the ‘culture of cooperation’ among the leaders in our community,” said Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce Chairman Doc Kibler. “These new jobs in Rome and Floyd County create paying customers to do business with our local small businesses and service providers.”
