APPLE VALLEY — The Drug Enforcement Administration’s recent reclassification of medicines containing hydrocodone as a Schedule II controlled substance only compounded the increased difficulties for patients to get the drugs they need, local pharmacists say.
Under new rules enacted last fall, narcotic painkillers like Vicodin, Lortab and other generic versions are treated similarly to drugs like oxycodone and codeine.
“There’s a lot of factors that are playing a part,” said pharmacist and Apple Valley Town Councilman Curt Emick. more
