Background

House Bill 1800 governing compounding practices passed during the 2013 legislative session and took effect May 7, 2013. In May 2013 the Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission initiated the process to develop administrative rules regarding compounding pharmaceutical preparations by filing the notice of rule making preproposal statement of inquiry (CR101) with the Office of the Code Reviser (WSR 13-11-096 (PDF)).

Subsequently in 2013, two stakeholder workshops were held to discuss topics to be included in the rules.
