Sixth Question of the Day October 14, 2014 If counterfeit and tainted api is being introduced into FDA-approved drugs, then what are the odds that in a less regulated industry--the compounding-industry--the same or worse is happening? Why would a pharmacist ever use api that is not warranted and promised by the supplier to be the actual api promised? Isn't this alone negligence, if not worse, on the part of a pharmacist? Does or should this rise to criminal liability (ie criminal negligence)? Ethically how can a pharmacist use such api? How can a doctor use such compounded medication without breaching the duty of care owed?
