Tenth Question of the Day July 14, 2014 How would patients feel if their insurance company refused to cover a commercially available drug...oh wait that does happen, doesn't it....okay how would the public feel if we shut down all manufactuers of drugs and everyone has to use compounded medications. Does this sound irrational? Well some compounders do feel this way. They believe they should be able to compound whatever drug they want whenever they want and some in fact do just this. Compounders are mad because they have failed to regulate and police themselves, have turned compounding into a billion dollar industry with little oversight, and they don't want to lose any of that revenue that is lining their pockets so the easiest way to curb that from happening is to invoke FEAR in the public. The public should be afraid but it should be afraid for a completely different reason.
