Fourth Question of the Day July 14, 2014 Why did PCCA invest in Imprimis Pharmaceuticals, Inc.? Why was PCCA's investiment so important for its members? Here are a few documents and a youtube video that mgiht shed light on it.

September 8, 2012

Dear PCCA Member, This past Friday, September 7, 2012, Imprimis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that it had signed an agreement with PCCA to assist them with drug development. It also was announced that PCCA made a $4 million investment in Imprimis. Imprimis already finalized phase 2 clinical trials, and is now beginning phase 3 trials in their quest for FDA-approval for Impracor™, a ketoprofen in PLO product. In our discussions with the company regarding the patent for PLO, which Imprimis purchased from a PCCA member, we saw an opportunity to protect PCCA members by working with Imprimis and putting specific safeguards in place to protect PCCA members compounding PLO and ketoprofen. We believe that we now have the opportunity to grow compounding for our members, especially with the use of transdermals. When manufactured drugs are not a good fit for patients, prescribers turn to compounders to deliver customized options. As these Imprimis PLO-based products find new patients, our industry will find additional patients that these "one size fits all" drugs cannot help. Below is a summary of our agreement with Imprimis, information about our upcoming webinar, and a list of answers to questions you may have. Thank you for your commitment to your patients and to PCCA.
