Vet pharmacy raided

By CHRISTIN COYNE
Federal authorities Tuesday executed a search warrant at a Weatherford veterinarian pharmacy, though not many details were available Wednesday, including what prompted the search.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement reportedly raided Weatherford Compounding Pharmacy, located in the 2000 block of Fort Worth Highway, seizing items from the facility.
“It was an FDA inspection,” a spokesman for the business, attorney Chuck Aris said. “They took some stuff. It appeared, we don’t know what they are targeting so it’s hard to guess, but a Canadian supplier that he used. There were no charges, no arrests, no citations and no violations by the pharmacy and they are still operating.”
A message left for the FDA was not immediately returned Wednesday afternoon, and a copy of the search warrant complaint had not been made publicly available Wednesday.
A neighbor told the WD that law enforcement was at the business for the majority of the day Tuesday.
The business advertises itself as a leading compounding pharmacy, making medications for reproductive, race and performance horse needs.
Business owner Joe Landers referred the Democrat to Aris for comment.
The warrant was mainly related to the Canadian supplier, according to Aris, who said authorities took products received from the supplier.
Aris denied any wrongdoing on the part of the pharmacy, which was open for business Wednesday.
The Texas State Board of Pharmacy reported they were not involved in the search Tuesday, and records show the pharmacy’s license remains active.
