Hospital Pharmacies Frequently Contacted by Opportunistic Vendors

Of 125 hospital pharmacy directors in Texas, more than 85% reported that they have been contacted by gray market vendors offering to sell drugs in short supply, as indicated by preliminary results of an ongoing study presented at the 2013 Interchange, a conference held by the Partnership for Safe Medicines (PSM). The study also found that almost 25% of pharmacy directors surveyed reported being asked to sell drugs they had in their inventories.
