MPA 2014 Annual Convention: Keynote Speaker David Miller of IACP

Registration is now available for Michigan’s premiere pharmacy event of the year, the MPA Annual Convention & Exposition, Feb. 28-March 2, 2014, at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. This upcoming event offers more than 50 continuing education programs, an Exhibit Hall to learn about the latest products and services out there, a wide variety of special events for networking and much more!

The Keynote Session at the 2014 Convention will feature David Miller, R.Ph., executive vice president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP). His presentation will focus on clinical and legal responsibilities in pharmacy, including update information on compounding from the federal and state level. Miller has served as CEO of IACP since 2010. As a pharmacist, he knows that preserving the traditional art and science of customized medication solutions is essential for good health outcomes. He previously worked as the director of professional affairs for both the National Community Pharmacists Association as well as the Maryland Pharmacists Association.

In addition, the Opening Session at the 2014 Convention will feature Steve Simenson, B.S. Pharm., FAPhA, DPNAP, president of the American Pharmacists Association. His presentation will focus on the status of pharmacists as providers and an update on the impact of the Affordable Care Act on pharmacy practice. Simenson is an active community pharmacist, managing partner and president of six community pharmacies. He is involved in Project ImPACT, practice-based research, medication therapy management, collaborative practice, employer health and wellness services, and compounding. Those planning on attending this year’s Convention are encouraged to register early! Rates will increase after Jan. 13. Online registration will be available until Feb. 17, and individuals registering onsite or sending in registration forms after this date will pay a higher registration rate.
