Article claims Veterinarians’ participation in our national survey provided compelling information that moved the Senate to remove compounding for animal health from its original draft legislation. Tens of thousands of emails and phone calls from pet-owners, veterinary and compounding-pharmacy professionals, through MyMedsMatter.com, told Congress how important compounding is to the health of the animals in our care.

Earlier this week, Congress passed the Drug Quality and Security Act.The new law doesn’t affect compounded medications in veterinary use.
Thanks to your support and communication with Congress, your access to life-saving medications for dogs, cats and horses is not affected … but the battle to protect these compounded medications is far from over.
Make no mistake: this is a big victory for the cause of animal health. This is in no small measure the result of the participation of thousands of veterinarians and pet owners, like you, in efforts to tell Congress the truth about the impact of compounding. Veterinarians’ participation in our national survey provided compelling information that moved the Senate to remove compounding for animal health from its original draft legislation. Tens of thousands of emails and phone calls from pet-owners, veterinary and compounding-pharmacy professionals, through MyMedsMatter.com, told Congress how important compounding is to the health of the animals in our care. You spoke – and Congress listened. That’s the way it’s supposed to work.
That’s the good news.
But there are companies and organizations that want to restrict competition and the treatment options provided by compounded medications … and they are not going away. We fully expect them to revisit this issue, perhaps as early as next year. We are working on your behalf on Capitol Hill every day. We will let you know about proposed laws that would affect you.
Thank you for your continued and passionate involvement in protecting your right to provide the best possible care. It’s great knowing that we can count on you to make your voice heard when it counts.
