U.S. Senator Alexander: Congress must act As Soon as it Returns in September to prevent another tainted drug crisis By Ramsey Cox


Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) called on Congress to act “as soon as it returns” in September to prevent more tainted compounded drugs from entering the market.
“Congress must act soon to prevent another health crisis,” Alexander said. “We know the problem, we have the solution, and it’s up to Congress to pass this bill as soon as it returns.”
Alexander demanded that Congress pass legislation to clarify oversight of businesses that compound drugs, after new Food and Drug Administration reports (FDA) that 15 patients have contracted bacterial bloodstream infections from compounded drugs manufactured in Texas.
