Veterinarians Craft Formal Compounding Policy As Hill Talks Continue



The American Veterinary Medical Association last week approved policies regarding animal drug compounding, including two outlining the use of bulk ingredients -- a key outstanding issue to be sorted out in animal drug provisions of the Senate compounding bill that have since been removed from the legislation. The new stance adds "an important voice" to continuing talks on drug compounding legislation, according to a source with the Animal Health Institute, which in recent weeks wrote an open letter to veterinarians to clear up policy positions the group said were mischaracterized by compounding pharmacies.
