Texas Legislators Considering Compounding Bill Relating to Out-of-State Pharmacies-Sen. Van de Putte Files Compounding Bill

Senator Van de Putte, filed Senate Bill (S.B.) 1100which relates to the licensing and inspection of certain out-of-state pharmacies by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. The bill as filed would set up requirements for out-of-state pharmacies who compound sterile drugs for Texas patients and facilities to go through an inspection prior to being able to do business in Texas. We are working with Senator Van de Putte to improve on the language and to add a provision that will not allow out-of-state pharmacies to compound office use prescriptions if the state in which they reside does not allow office use compounding.
