DEADLY MENINGITIS OUTBREAK: 'CLEARLY SOMETHING WENT WRONG HERE' DESPITE RISKS, MANY HOSPITALS MUST CONTINUE TO ACCEPT DRUGS FROM COMPOUNDING PHARMACIES

Hospitals nationwide continue to report new cases in a fungal meningitis outbreak that a former FDA official attributes in part to miscommunication between state and federal agencies.
According to CDC data released Monday, the number of reported cases of meningitis associated with the outbreak has reached 212, including 15 deaths. The majority of cases are in Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee, and Virginia.
